Avoid unwanted setbacks from lost profits, drop in productivity, delivery deadlines, and severe penalties.

PS Soluções, in partnership with EDF Norte Fluminense, within the scope of the R&D program regulated by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL, Brazil), has developed the Onfra 4.0 project.

OnFRA 4.0 is a product designed for monitoring the insulation condition of electrical equipment. It is primarily composed of an acquisition hardware and a set of coils, with one for injection and another for measurement.

OnFRA 4.0 Acquisition Hardware

OnFRA 4.0 is primarily designed for monitoring electric motors while in operation. In other words, the system is non-invasive and detects insulation conditions during machine operation.

A study carried out by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), involving approximately 7500 large induction motors, identified that 37.5% of failures originated from issues in stator windings. Hence, the importance of early diagnosis of insulation failures is evident. OnFRA 4.0 aims to precisely detect this type of failure and applies to both low and medium-voltage motors.

Partnership with Innovation

“Innovation is part of EDF Norte Fluminense DNA. And now, yet another new product is emerging from an R&D project developed in partnership with PS Soluções, which is OnFRA 4.0. It arises from a demand within our plant’s operations and maintenance team and is heading towards the market starting in the second half of 2023.”

Research, development and innovation manager

With the goal of online monitoring of electric motors, it will cater to various sectors of the economy, ranging from the electric sector to industries such as food, automotive, oil and gas, mining, steel, and among others. This product aims to prevent unforeseen downtime and mitigate undesirable losses.
